My Story:
My passion for cooking developed when I started cooking for my family from a very young age. I experimented with different flavors and embraced a variety of worldwide cuisines. Watching my family enjoying the meals to the extent that they did, ignited a passion within me for entertaining other people who enjoy good food.
After realizing my passion for food and entertainment, I decided to hire a photographer to take photos of my food creations. The photos that were taken shortly thereafter, won me a position as chef at a restaurant in Cape Town. In this position, I learnt how to run a kitchen and how the operations of an industrial kitchen work.
After one and a half years, I moved on to a Mediterranean style restaurant where I learnt how to use unique flavors and colorful ingredients to create exciting dishes, which gave me a very good background of “what goes with what”.
As I needed to explore my career as a chef, I applied for an entry-level chef position at a well-known hotel in Cape Town, where I learnt how the operations within a large kitchen work. I was given the opportunity to create my own dishes and to experiment with fine-dining food. There, I was noticed by a colleague who referred me to another hotel, who needed an Executive Chef. I applied for the position, and was successful!
My position as Executive Chef taught me how to manage staff and I was afforded the freedom to serve my favorite menus and to use my creativity in order to run the kitchen successfully. After a few years, I became the Executive Chef and Assistant Food & Beverage Manager of the hotel, as well as for its sister hotel.
Through the knowledge I gained, I developed a need to have my own business, a health deli, which I opened in Durbanville, Cape Town. But, I soon came to realized that managing my own business, minimized the time I needed in order to be creative within the kitchen. I merged with another similar company who, after a while, bought the deli and appointed me as the product developer for health foods and products, designed for people with food intolerances.
As life takes us on the most interesting journeys, I was led to relocate to East London. I thought I would have a fresh start and give private cheffing a chance. I noticed there was a “gap” in the market and took up the opportunity to fill it. Surprisingly, it didn’t take long before I was noticed by the East London community, who welcomed me with open arms. Something new and different was needed here and through the unique services that I offer, word of mouth has spread and enabled me to become very successful as a private chef. I cook in different kitchens, and create amazing food for the foodies of this town.
I am so blessed and happy that my passion brought me to where I am today. I love my work and I love seeing people enjoying my food. Good food has an amazing way of bringing people together, and I am thrilled that people appreciate my passion.
The services I offer range from private dinner parties, to foodie workshops, and even corporate functions. I create a variety of dishes, from a variety of cuisines, and serve it to any number of guests.
You will definitely taste the love in my food!
